Shallow Water Hunting
In Lakes
|
|
-Continued-
|
| The photo on the right
was taken in 1936. This another public swim beach, except this one was located in a "high class" neighborhood.
The people from the "high class" neighborhoods also swam a lot back then.
They wore the fancy expensive swim wear. Some of their swim wear had built in
cotton belts with brass buckle plates. These flimsy belts & plates, though
they made the swimmer look "real pretty" at the beach, sooner or later
they snapped and they too ended up at the bottom of the lake. |
|
| I heard a story from an old timer once... he told me that when he was a kid they would
dive down into sandy areas (under diving boards) with mom's kitchen sieve,
scoop the bottom and then go back up for air. A buck in silver per
dive was well worth their effort. This was being done before under water
metal detectors had ever hit the market. So some people back then were well
aware of the "goodies" that were being lost in the lakes by the swimmers. |
| The mother nature friction force known as "WATER", soon took its toll on
everything that the swimmer was wearing and carrying. Bathing cap buckles,
rings, belt plates & buckles, keys, coins, bathhouse tags, necklaces, bracelets,
earrings etc. These would all soon become "fair game" for the modern day
lake water hunter. >>>>>CLICK
