Profiles are now required to
post on all Forums,
in
order
to post on these forums you must have built a profile with a valid
email address. This
profile will be pass worded to prevent others posting as you and so you
wont lose your user name to someone else who creates a profile with
your name before you have. Once you build a profile it must then be used on all forums. You only need one profile that will work on all forums, it will only show your profile on forums you have an active post on. You Must post using the exact sure name and password in your profile on all forums, all punctuation counts and is also case sensitive on passwords. If you receive a password in all capitols that's the way it must be entered. However all existing profiles can be seen by clicking on the view profile list of the classifieds forum whether you have a post their or not, so this is a good place to look if you forgot your user name. Please check to see if the one you want to use is there before attempting to create a new one, or to check to see if yours is there and just need a password reset. If the user name you want to use is there already you will not be able to use that name, you must use another name that is not in use, make up a new one, add an initial or state etc. Profiles are based on email addresses. The Depot will only allow one user profile per email address. Once you attempt to post on any forum, it creates a cookie on your browser so you wont have to enter your information anymore unless you clear your cookies. Cookies can cause a problem if you attempt to post using a user name that someone else created as the forums will now think you are someone else and require that password. To clear this problem up you need to delete your cookies from your internet settings on your browser, or you can attempt to repost using a name not in use and that will allow you to create a profile if you don't have one already. See deleting cookies below on this page. The Create a profile link is
on every forum in the navigator bar where the post a message link is. If the
link says Edit profile
instead of create a profile, and you never created one before, then you
must
have attempted to make a
post using someone else's user
name and your cookies have been reset to pre load that name, to clear
this up you will need to delete any
cookies you have on your browser
from the Treasure Depot. A
password will be
sent to the email address you listed in the profile after you create your profile. Please be sure you allow email from
webmaster@thetreasuredepot.com in
your spam filters or you may not receive it. You
can and should change this
password to something you can
remember by using the edit profile
link which will only appear
for
those that have already created a profile and
entering the password assigned in the box provided,
then entering your new password in the 2 new password box's
provided. I highly recommend this, as the password sent by the depot is
all capitols and a bunch of garbled letters.. Its simple to change if
you do it before losing it, and make it something simple you can
remember Be aware if you edit your
profile and change you email
address, that a new password should be emailed to the new email
address and your old one will no longer work! Wait till you receive
your new password before attempting to post. When making
your first post be sure you type
in the new password in the box on the post form as your cookies may
have
saved your last password and pre loaded it, and check save password box
so your cookies will remember the new one. If you lose
your
password
send me an email and I will reset it, Be aware I can not see
current passwords as they are encrypted, so I must know the exact
user
name and email address that you post using, and also send me what you would like your
new password to be so I don't have to try and make one up. Your profile will not appear in the profile list until you make a post on that particular forum except the classifieds list. If attempting to create a
profile and its saying profile
already exists, then you are either trying to create one
that
someone
else has already used ( in that case try using another name), or you
previously posted on a forum using a password or previously created a
profile. In the latter case you will need your password to post,
or need to
email
me to reset your password. You may need to clear your cookie files to
clear out the pre loaded name if you made the mistake of attempting to
post or create a profile using one that already exists. When you create a profile
on any of the forums a password will be emailed to the email address
you put in your profile, so make sure you check your spam
folders if you don't receive it within 5 minutes. Do Not use password
managers on any browser, if your
browser asks if you would like to save your password for this site,
reply never for this site, as it will cause you problems. If you
already
replied yes and popups are appearing then you need to delete any
references to the depot in your password manager. You can save your
password in your cookie files by simply checking the save password box
when you make a post. A simple fix is to just change your name a little by adding your state initials or adding a first or last initial to that name. You can view profiles to see if anyone has yours already, but they only show users that have posted on that particular board. I suggest that everyone build a profile so your name will not be misused by others. If you used a password before and forgot it, please email the web master with the exact user name you post with. Banned IP's If you are getting messages you are banned from posting or viewing the forums, and feel you have done nothing to be on the banned list, you are probably the victim of having the same ISP as someone who has been banned. To get off the banned list you must Email TR Texasrebel@computron.net If you are experiencing problems with loading pages or not being able to access certain pages please try the following tip before e-mailing me with your problem. I get a lot of mail every week especially from AOL users and this method fixes the problem 99% of the time. With the amount of updating we do on this site especially on the find of the month page, it is often necessary to clear your browser cache to get the a fresh download of the latest pages. First try this: Hold down the "shift" key on your keyboard and while you are still holding it down click "refresh" or "reload" on your browser tool bar. This will force a fresh download from the server instead of using your cached pages that may not be updated with the latest additions. If that fails you can try to clear your
cache. You
will not loose any cookies or important files by clearing your cache
but
it will force a fresh download for any new pages you go to after that.
To Clear Cache in Internet Explorer: You need to open the Internet Explorer browser
first. AOL users: If you have AOL you do not open AOL. You need
to find
Internet Explorer in your program menu. You then need to open the browser and follow
the steps
above. To Clear your cache using Netscape: Netscape users open the "edit" menu and choose
"preferences" Cookies: The newer
versions of Netscape have cookie
management in the tools pull down, IE has cookies management in
the file pull down, then tools, then internet options, with a push
button to delete cookies in the temp internet files menu. To add the smilies any where in your post or
in the subject
line, you just use a simple Text
Format Codes Text typed between the following tags will
take that property if typed into message box Bigger text [big] [/big] Bold Text Red text [R] [/R] Italics text |
