In Process of Publication Frank Garrett
Frank (no relation to Charles) is a recognized expert at identifying coins and artefacts found in the South of England and other areas of the UK. Currently he serves as a finds recording and identification officer for America's Jimmy Sierra's Discovery Tours of holiday detectorists. He is well known to the Norwich museum as well as to the Canterbury Archaeological Trust, and Maidstone and Dover Museums, amongst others. No doubt his astute knowledge was fostered by his recording, from the onset of his many years of detecting and continuing today, every item he recovers. In his detailed journals of every day's detecting he also created illustrations of the resulting finds. Frank has painstakingly illustrated each find in pen and ink - and often in colour. Five volumes of Frank's logs are being prepared to publish in book form. A CD ROM that can be keyword searched to make it easy for researchers looking for "just that item" is also being considered for publication. Frank's illustrations were originally made only for his own reference. It is time for the detecting world to view them. In the meantime watch this space for previews of the publications and dates when the final published volume and CD will be available. If you have interest in being first to own one of these publications, send email to Donna Trefry and I shall put you on the "first come" list. Your response will not be considered a committment since at this time no price has been projected. Also, contact me if you would be interested in having Frank prepare for you a hand drawn illustration of YOUR special find. |
