I've been here for almost 42 years. I moved down here from Maryland with my parents after high school. The big thing for me is the climate. We have about 6 to 7 months of very comfortable temperatures and lower humidity. That's from late October to mid to late May. Great! The rest of the year is very hot and humid. It doesn't bother some people but I don't like it. Even the Gulf of Mexico water temperature gets into the low 90s. So just think of the hottest most humid day you ever had in Columbus and imagine having that for at least 5 months straight. Everybody is different though. I have a neighbor who doesn't air condition his house and feels like it's too cold if the temperature falls below 75 degrees. There are people who will bake themselves on the beach for hours at a time on the hottest days. I'm sure there are many other factors that you are considering. Good luck with your decision!
