but here is my 2 cents worth.......your killing me.
What an awesome find. I have returned every ring that I could possibly return. It is the right thing, at the right time and the right reason to return the ring. With that being said, even if you try to reach out for the Honor Roll, you may not get a response! The ring is yours to keep and you made the effort. If you receive a favorable response then the depositor gets the ring back off of your efforts. You are rewarded intrinsically for your effort. A monetary reward is icing on the cake. You did the right thing. Some detectorists expect it. While I agree I realize not all of us are cut from the same cloth, I have conditioned myself to expect nothing except the excitement of the return. Point black.
I am sitting on a 22 gram men's class ring with ice. Featured over a year ago on the Ring Daddy. I reached out and still no response sooooooo...... it's mine but I tried. I am a big believer in Karma, don't know if is works or not but I try. I try to reach out. I encourage others to reaching out. To me it is simply the right thing to do in life. Me, myself and I could not go to sleep at night if I did not try. Yes I have been "taken" advantage of and it just plain . But I had no expectations. Does not happen often but it happens. I can count on one hand but some of these other posts of negativity makes me wonder about about interpersonal communication skills of the finders. I lay no judgement just encouragement.
So mot it be as a good Mason once told me. He is dead now but believed in trying and so do I. I am not right and you are not wrong, we just never know what will happen. That is what makes life exciting and depressing. You do what you want to do. I don't give a about the "reward" I go to work everyday but I still want to smoke OBN in the returns. His rings are so old he will never have an Honor Roll. GL in what ever you decide. This is just were I come from. From a hillbilly to a shore-billy. I have spent half of my life on both sides of the Maryland Piedmont. At least you may have one Honor Roll this year. OCC
