Old Gas Station

This picture of what appears to be the remains of an old gas station was taken in a small forgotten little community a short distance South of San Antonio, Texas. This was one decrepit little community, trash blowing everywhere, old cars abandoned in yards, many of the homes were old house trailers falling apart and other homes half fallen down. So sad seeing people living in conditions like I saw today.

I stopped and talked with several of the people living in this small community, and all of them had big smiles on their faces, all were friendly, and one man even offered me some ice tea. One man who appeared to be in his fifties pointed to the house that he was born in, and his home which was next door to it. I got his name and phone number, and he is willing to sit down with me and tell me the history of the area. Needless to say, I plan on making a special trip back down there when I have more free time. This community dates back to the late 1800's and with some digging for information there is no telling what I will discover. These are poor people, but proud people and I am much richer after meeting some of them today. Wrangler :)

Picture taken with a Sony A300 DSLR camera using a Minolta 28-85mm lens, F7.1, 1/160, ISO 100, Manual Mode, used Histogram as exposure aid, sky was overcast, no sun.
