I have a Minelab Explorer SE Pro that developed an issue -- it started giving the "overload" tone, and "overload" wording on the screen while hunting one day (as if detecting a large, shallow target). However, it is stuck in this "overload" state.
I sent it into Minelab for repair, and they determined there is a flaw in the main board. I decided that replacement is too costly, as they can't replace just the main board -- the replacement part includes all 3 of the internal boards -- with the part being over $350. The other two printed circuit boards in my machine (the one that is the "power" board, and the one that controls the screen and keypad) are working properly (per Minelab), and all functions of the machine work correctly; you can power it up, change settings, use the menu, noise cancel, turn on and off the backlight, etc. etc., except that it gives the "overload" tone constantly.
The screen and keypad are FLAWLESS, aesthetically, and are functioning perfectly -- the screen and keypad had an adhesive screen protector covering them at all times The screen/keypad plate is easy to disassemble from the internal control board (it connects with a simple ribbon connector), and could be used for any Explorer whose screen or keypad has failed or been damaged. I am including the control box, all internal electronics, and the "upper arm" it is attached to.
