Ron Falk![]() |
Hi
everyone I'm Ron Falk from Indiana aka ron/in ironbrigade. Yes I'm one
of the proud members of the Iron Brigade. Have been for about 5 years. I have been detecting for 7 years I have used almost all brands of detectors, but Minelab is my favorite. Between my wife and myself we have 9 detectors and use them all. I sometimes think that she is more addicted to detecting than I am. We have 3 kids, 2 of hers and 1 of mine. Ann and myself have been married 15 great years. We hunt mostly old parks, farm fields and also do a lot of water hunting. But really enjoy going out east to relic hunt. This will be my first GNRS, But have been to 4 N/S hunts and a GRD. What a great time they all have been. I'm looking forward to meeting you all and digging lots of relics. Lets Dig some Relics |

Duane Caldwell ![]() |
Hello all, I am Duane Caldwell, better
known on the forums as "Buzzardjaws", or sometimes as the "toy soldier
guy". I have lost count of the depot hunts I have been on, but the
first was GNRS 2000 at Brandy station and I have only missed a few
since then. I have been fortunate enough at some of these hunts to be
in the top finds winners a couple of times, with my best showing at the
GNRS 2005 when I took second place with my Confederate Read Shell. I
can tell you that there is as much luck involved as there is skill in
these hunts, but a good "smathering" of both is always nice. I still have my very first relic I ever found, way back in 1969. I didn't have a detector back in those days, but used the "eyeball" method with some success. I didn't start metal detecting until 1974. I guess that means that I have been addicted to this hobby for around 33 years now. While I started out primarily as a coin shooter, I have tried just about every type of detecting there is except nugget shooting. I have now evolved into a nearly full time relic hunter. I don't mean that I spend 40 hours a week relic hunting, I just mean that I spend about 95% of my "detecting time" relic hunting. I am married, and have 3 daughters aged 14-15-23. My wife accepts the fact that I AM addicted to this hobby, but she doesn't share the same demon with me. My daughters have all been detecting with me, but they prefer beach hunting and finding jewelry to digging relics. Plus, they think it's easier to sift the sand with a wire basket than to dig for the relics......can't argue with that..!! I always have a ball at these hunts and always look forward to getting together with a bunch of people who share the same love of the hobby as I have. I always bring home something special from these hunts, and that's all the memories I bring back. So, I am looking forward to this hunt and all the "good stuff" I will be bringing back..!! later..... Ron Swenson![]() |
Hello
all, My name is Ron Swenson and known as Ron (CA) on the forums. I have been obsessed with this hobby of detecting since 1997 and started hunting in and around Richmond VA. It did not take long to gain an obsession for CW Relics and the thrill of digging up history. Little did I know that a simple 3 ringer could get a grown man excited to go dig in the dirt!! Throw in a few nice Confederate buttons and it was all over!! In 2000 I was transferred back to CA and had to convert to coins and gold mining camp relic hunting. Shortly after moving back to CA I became the President of the Sacramento Valley Detecting Buffs. I held that position from 2001-2006 until a job assignment landed me in KY for a year or so. That is where I am currently with plans of heading back West soon. I just turned 40 years young and have a great wife who tolerates the dirt in the sink and two wonderful kids ages 9 (girl) and 7 (boy) who have both tried detecting with Dad. Twenty minutes is about the attention span at this point. I have been to two GNRS hunts and looking forward to my third. I have been swinging a Minelab since 1998. I started with the Sov XS and have had almost every Minelab but have selected the E2 as my machine of choice. I look forward to meeting everyone and enjoying another great weekend of hunting for history!! I have also enjoyed writing a few stories about my adventures and have been fortunate to have a few published over the years. Couple links if interested. http://www.treasurenet.com/westeast/data/feature/robots/200210.htm http://www.treasurenet.com/westeast/data/feature/robots/200503.htm HH to you all!! West![]() |
My name is Steven West. On
the web, I'm known as "Steve in Indianapolis" where I have lived on and
off for the past thirty years as some of that was spent living in
various parts of the world as an Intelligence Specialist in the United
States Navy. I retired in 1989.
I am a proud husband to a lady
whom I've been with for 40...that's FORTY years....dad of
five....granddad to five....surrogate granddad to three more.
I have been detecting for over
30 years. My main unit is a MINELAB XS. I also run a Whites
XLT.
My proudest detecting
accomplishment is that I am the Commander of the world famous IRON
BRIGADE! You will see IRON BRIGADIERS on other teams. We
are the largest and fastest metal detecting/relic hunting fraternity
that there is with estimated members of 150 in almost every state and
Canada & the UK.
There are US uniformed
BRIGADIERS in Saudi, REDSEAFLEET, Iraq, & Afghanistan & other
outposts defending FREEDOM around the globe. Of that I am truly proud.

Tom Johnson![]() |
My Name is
Tom Johnson, and I am from Cincinnati Ohio. I am married and have
3 daughters all grown now. I have only been Detecting for 61/2 years. My fist detector was the Whites XLT, and it served me well. My first old coin I found with the Whites was an 1877 IH in great condition. It graded EF-40. My Next Detector is the Minelab Explorer II, and have made many nice finds with it. This will be my 3rd Depot hunt and I am really looking forward to it. Although my first two hunts I did not find a lot, I had lots of fun, met many fine people and made lot of friends. I am looking forward to this hunt and finding many relics, and coins. I also have the Explore SE and it is an awesome Detector also. |
